“But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

I am a Christian. And I am a member of a Christian Reformed church. If you know much about the CRC, you’ll probably have a good idea of what my views are on a number of topics, but I’ll clarify on a few; beyond the above you could describe me as:
For a more detailed explanation of what I believe, I would suggest that you read Dr. Zacharias Ursinus’ Commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism, as I find it to be a very good summary of the CRC’s position on some of the more important topics, and I don’t differ substantially with much of what is written in this work. Of course, anything I’ve written on this site will also indicate my views on specific doctrines.
I am currently employed as the lead programmer for a company that writes software for stock market traders. In some ways it’s fun because I get to do a lot of mathematical derivations and data analysis, but obviously it can be pretty stressful as well. I don’t tend to write much (if anything) about my work, though, since most of the interesting information is confidential.
As you’ll probably be able to tell from my journal entries, my main hobbies are reading and playing baseball.
What I’m reading will usually depend on what I’m interested at the time, but most of my reading is either theological, or scientific in nature. I don’t generally read a lot of fiction, but if someone lends me a book that they think is good, then I don’t mind reading it. Most of the scientific material deals with creation/evolution-related topics, but I enjoy other scientific material from time to time as well. As far as theological works go, there’s a pretty wide range.
During the spring and summer I play three-pitch softball in a little local league. The diamonds are just down the street, and all of my four brothers play as well. William started t-ball last summer. Usually I’m either on my brother Doug, or my brother Matthew’s team. Last year there were ten teams in the league with twelve or thirteen players on each team. I was fortunate enough to be on the championship team in the last two seasons, (Matt’s team last year, and Doug’s the year before). I’d consider myself a decent player in general – probably above average in our league – but I’d have to say that most of my brothers are better players than I am. Every year my brothers and I play in a lob-ball tournament in Moorefield the third weekend of July. Our record overall is probably close to even right now, but we did go to the semi-finals in two of the tournaments.
